Jigsaw holds a special place in its heart for people who have given their time and energy to improving and supporting our work. Members of the Jigsaw Group nominated the following people:

Joel At the time of writing Joel is about to join the army. He has proved himself to be a brilliant young volunteer for Jigsaw. He has distinguished himself by displaying a special ability when assisting with challenging home visits and has an understanding and empathy beyond his years.

Sharon Holden was a Jigsaw volunteer for a short time in 2022/23. During that time she was instrumental in establishing MADGAS meals which prepared and delivered Christmas dinners to Jigsaw members on Christmas Eve. Sharon also did a huge amount to clear way for a lift to be installed in the home of another Jigsaw member. She pitched in and archived a great deal in a short time and displayed an immense amount of determination and inner strength. A new life 100 miles away ended the practical help but is still able to keep in touch by phone.

In Memory of:

Noreen Maynard was a Jigsaw volunteer. Here work is held in very high regard by those who experienced it a first hand. She was angelic in her kindness and understanding expressed to those she worked with. Angie wrote this very fitting Message from Noreen: Sing a song for me, I am nether lost or alone. I turned into a butterfly and now my wings have grown. I’m here in what you call heaven. It’s is better than I thought. I’ve got a glowing body, It doesn’t hurt at all, It’s really light and kind of fluffy. I glide across the floor, No aches or pains in my body. I don’t know why I didn’t do it before. And God, oh yes I met Him, Jesus and the masters too. And angels walk beside me, and they are beautiful. And even in your sadness, I ask please do not cry. I am a butterfly of rainbow light, gliding through my new life. I’m happy, content and peaceful. You would not believe what I now know. And I’m still as busy as ever, even though they say take it slow. Oh there’s so much I can help with. When your tears are done. Please don’t be sad that I have passed, I’m having so much fun.

May we all feel the comforting gentle breeze from Noreen’s wings in our lives.

Vaugh Hopewell was a member of Mansfield and District Council and Jigsaw field worker covering Bassetlaw District. Vaugh was very highly thought of by the Jigsaw members who experienced his support and care at first hand. He was passionate about his people and their care. He always put other people first.

Brian Lohan, a member of Mansfield and District Council was a board member for over 4 years. He supported Jigsaw within this role and remained a vital member of the group. Brian died suddenly on Christmas Eve 2022 and he will be sadly missed by all of us. He was a loyal supporter, dedicated to improving the lives of those in need, a fierce fighter for Mansfield but always so caring. He was also a proud ex-miner and solid NUM member. He loved Mansfield and always said he wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. He will be sorely missed.
