Madghas stands for Mansfield & District Garden Holders’ Association. There initiative for 2023 is to turn harvests from local gardeners into a fresh food bank for local people. The Association opens from 10.00 ’till 12.00 on Saturdays and Sundays to supply seed and gardening items to its members. Membership is £1 per year and the prices are very low due to the dedicated volunteers and a “not for profit” ethos. Madghas provides some seeds for the Jigsaw Allotment in addition to making cash donations via a charity box and the sale of gardening equipment. Madghas Meals made a rapid decision to move its operation forward to provide Christmas Dinner for Jigsaw Members. Fresh veg was harvested on 23rd December, prepared and cooked and duly delivered on Christmas Eve. Rumour has it that several of the meals were consumed within minutes of being received – good people are hungry!
