Jigsaw has served the community of Mansfield and the surrounding area for over 15 years. During that time, its activities have expanded to meet the needs of those who become isolated within our society. We are a registered charity dependent on grants and contributions to support our staff and volunteers.
Jigsaw works with people experiencing a wide variety of mental health issues and who find it extremely difficult to survive within our community and its structures. Inherent within the name, people can end up in pieces and Jigsaw aims to pick up those pieces, cross barriers and put together a valued person within our society. This work is arduous, demanding and long-term. Most of us are familiar with children who, for a variety of reasons, require intensive intervention to meet their needs. Our group has several people who, although in the adult frame, require help and intervention through being un-diagnosed or somewhere on the ADHT, autism, Tourette or other syndrome.
One of Jigsaw’s specialisms is to assist people whose state of mental health includes extreme hoarding. Our staff and volunteers take the individual through the extensive clearing up or re-housing process.

Individual Support at Home: Staff make scheduled visits to people in their home to work out with them any immediate needs and plan a way forward. This includes provision of food, sorting out their living space, help with forms, bills and benefits, as well as advocacy and the formulation of forward plans.
Group Activity Meetings: We hold Group meetings every Thursday and offer a variety of activities for those who attend. Music, art work, exercise and dietary sessions. This includes visits and outings.
Allotment: Jigsaw has its own allotment garden on Chesterfield Road. Gardening is a popular activity with some members of the group who cultivate and tend the plot at a variety of times during the week and season. We distributed produce to the group and those in need..
Re-cycle and Advice Café: [Usually held the last Friday of the month.] Bring a broken item along to see if it can be fixed, receive benefits advice or just enjoy a drink and chat in a warm space. A variety of stalls are also available for purchasing gifts and other items.
Events: Throughout the year, there are several special events and trips. Birthday celebrations, Ten-Pin Bowling and Rhubarb Farm have all figured in the programme.
Model Railway: The group is developing a 00 gauge model railway capable of being exhibited at events. This is one of the latest activities and is at the construction state.
Support From Those Who Have Lived Similar Experiences: Members of our group progress towards reaching out via telephone and also visit assist with individuals on an empathetic road to improvement and reduce isolation. This “hands on approach” happens daily and is a special feature of Jigsaw where people graduate from support to supporter.
Board Meetings: The governing body meets on a monthly basis to provide strategic management to Jigsaw.
